Gift wrapping is an art form. Creating a beautiful box is almost secondary to what is in the box.  Throughout the year, I gather little bits and pieces to use on my gift presentations.  Many times I just embellish boxes to use for gifts- ready to go anytime I need one. These past couple of days, gift wrapping has become a priority.  Husbands shopping in the store appreciate having their gifts wrapped for their ladies- one told me yesterday that the wrapping was so gorgeous that he didn't want to let her open them!  It's time for mailing gifts to friends far away so they get them in time for Christmas and there's lots of holiday celebrations next week!  So let me finish this post with  the following picture.  In a home where the mother is obsessed with beautiful gift wraps- let me share with you the ultimate wrap created by my young adult son for his little niece. He has taken gift wrapping to a new art form.   I almost dyed laughing when I saw this little masterpiece.  Anyone guess what it is????

A Beautiful Gift- it's all about the Presentation!

Imagine being surprised by this incredible basket on your kitchen counter when you arrive home from work on a Saturday evening.  A farm basket filled with all sorts of delectable delights, a gift certificate to one our our  favorite restaurants, a beautifully wrapped gift, a southern cake from Nonnie Waller, and this gorgeous floral arrangement in a carved white pumpkin. all sent to Mr. RTH and I. First of all, these flowers ( from my fav- Twigs of course!) are so pretty and full of interesting flowers. I love the kale rose, the center part of an actual kale plant.  The Nonnie Waller cake is in a beautiful green velvet box,  which will look lovely when filled with another gift for under the Christmas tree. Can't wait to taste the cake tonight!  This was a lovely thoughtful gift and really touched  both of our hearts.  Thank you so much - you newly weds- enjoy your first married Thanksgiving together!

Gift Tags with Fringe Benefits!

Between the Lake Bluff Ghost Walk this weekend and our annual Christmas Open House the next weekend   ( Nov.2 and 3rd) ,  I have worn out my glue gun this week.  Many projects need to be completed for both of these events.   Last night I finished our gift tags for special gifts for the holiday season.  One of my fabric reps came in the store and went through our fabric and trim books and discarded some discontinued books.  I couldn't bear to see the beautiful samples of trims thrown away. Katha came over last week and helped me assemble these tags.  With Office Max shipping labels, my stamps and colored pencils, a little glitter and rhinestones and that discontinued  trim book,  we created these gift tags.  They are our gift tags "with fringe benefits" and will embellish many special  gifts this season.

Lynda's Birthday Celebration

flatbread pizza with burrata, squash blossoms and roasted cherry tomatoes

Bright colorfully wrapped gifts awaiting Lynda

Yesterday was Lynda Sue's birthday and we met Laurell and Christie at Nellcote for dinner  in the city.  It was a  very lively atmosphere, loud music ( which Lynda loved)  and the  restaurant was stunning .  Crystal chandeliers, hot  orange walls in the bar, and an incredible "Parisienne"  patio area were  a delight to the visual senses.  We enjoyed beautifully presented food and then headed back to the  quiet burbs to open presents.  Happy Birthday Lynda!
