Marie Antoinette Soiree Details

After the Spirit of 67 Home Tour last week, I had to pack up my daughter and help her move to the Washington, DC area.  We left early on Friday morning, so I haven't had time to show you the details of the event. So today I am sharing the kitchen island pictures with you.  Most of the candy shown, we purchased at World Market and re-packaged it, with the exception of the beautiful Anna Shea chocolates  on the black tiered stand.  The Marie Antoinette cupcake girls with the dress inspired cupcake holders were purchased from Etsy artists- PaperScissorsCake - downloaded, printed and embellished for the event. The incredible Eiffel Tower cupcake tower in an vintage piece from Paris and is owned by my friend, Linda Lee, and is for sale in her antique shop.   Please feel free to inquire if you are interested. All of the little porcelain French figurines are from the collection of Penny, one of the RTH girls.  They look so cute when grouped together.  The martini glasses were rimmed with edible gold glitter and filled with rose and rose petals.  The beautiful "Let Them Eat Cake" cards were from Etsy shop- Paper Nosh.  The gilded and embellished bird cage cake stands are from Romancing the Home.  All of the cakes were store bought and embellished with gum paste flowers from Etsy artists. The new Smirnoff vodkas- whipped cream and fluffed marshmallow- were embellished with hand dyed ribbon and rhinestones.  Overall it was a girly display, pink, sparkle and romance!  Enjoy!

Black and White Tent- Spirit of 67 Home Tour last minute details

Our tent- finally up with 6 girls helping! We waited until 6  o'clock Wednesday for the weather report- Penny called Gregg- her husband the fireman, for the latest radar report- no storms until late Thursday!  Meanwhile, our local weather forecast was certain for thunderstorms on Thursday. But what was I thinking?  I have been doing this event for 8 years and it has NEVER rained!  So I gathered the troops, we figured out the instructions, erected the tent and tied it to the heavy black urns for hope- the only hope if it rained! I ran to Dominicks- I was completely out of flowers, bought the baby's breath and orange roses and created the floral detail for the chandelier. Julie met me at the home at 7 am in the morning and helped me tie it to the chandelior.  Then out went the pink peacocks, the home owner's wonderful black and white china and our floral embellished cakes.   This tent is from Z-Gallerie and is exquisite with it's finials and black tassels.  It takes a village to set up, but is strong and beautiful.  Inexpensive Chivari chairs ( only  $34.00 online with a cushion  and great little 120 inch  round  table clothes for only   $12 that my friend, Lynda, found on line.(  Email me for the details of these web sites if you are interested.) Kathleen's  grounds are breathtaking- ponds with big green bullfrogs- gorgeous flowers, big huge urns with evergreens under planted with pansies- sigh-  and this tent is perfect for her terrace.

Spirit of 67 Home Tour

Today's the Day! Finally the Spirit of 67 Home Tour is here- with maybe a Thunderstorm or two! So I am off to do the final set up of the outside tent and pray that the storms will wait to late afternoon! So here are a few pictures to enjoy- tonight I will go into more detail of each of the  four tablescapes.

Spirit of 67 Home Tour- Few Teasters!

Today is the final day for the set up for the Spirit of 67 Home Tour, so here's a little teaser of what's to come!  Last night I embellished Sam's Club and Mariano's cakes with the beautiful gum paste flowers that I purchased from Etsy artists. Using flowers from each artist, I created toppers for each of the cakes.  All are little petite cakes from Marianos, with the exception of the large coconut cake from Sam's Club.  These cakes, along with chocolates, embellished cupcakes,  and cookies will become the Patisserie for our Marie Antoinette Soiree!

Dolphin Chocolate Bars- Perfectly Marie!

It is the last night before we start setting up the Spirit of 67 Home Tour and I am a little crazy- well maybe a lot crazy!  Can't decide on the table settings, but I am in love with the  Dolphin candy bars, embellished with the doilies and rhinestones- just too beautiful to eat and that's a good thing with all the calories! They remind of Marie Antoinette's lavish costumes.   I am trying to set up a French bleu and mirrored place setting  - love it- but not sure if it works with our overall color theme.  Candy, our stylist,  will come over in the morning and try to rein me in- get me focused- cool my thoughts- but I am just a "creating fool" right now. Help me! Meanwhile, I love that soft bleu rhinestone tassel on the silver box lunch vessel filled with Salade aux Ouefs sur Brioche, Ananas Fromage Creme Abricots Farcis, Salade Verte, and Chocolat Macarons.  Call the store for more info on purchasing tickets for this home tour!
